The exact same truth applies to our families. Mothers regularly lay the unseen, spiritual foundations that quiet the noise, hold the household together, and deliberately shape destinies.
In this third instalment of our Cornerstones of Legacy series at All Nations Community Church, we dive into the life of Bathsheba. While the world often remembers her only for the darkest, most scandalous moments of King David's reign, God used her broken past to orchestrate the golden age of Israel. Long before her son Solomon built the temple or authored the Book of Proverbs, Bathsheba acted as The Architect of Wisdom.
What is Biblical Wisdom?
True wisdom is not defined by a stellar IQ or a massive accumulation of natural facts. In a chaotic environment, biblical wisdom is a highly practical skill for living well in a broken world. True wisdom begins with a foundational reverence for God, meaning it is entirely determined by whose voice you choose to trust the most.
Three Pillars of a Wise Architect
Pastor Rasol highlights three tactical markers from Bathsheba's story that every parent must adopt to anchor their children's future:
1. Wisdom Steps Into Tension: When a political coup threatened to rob Solomon of his promised future, Bathsheba didn't complain or wait for a passive solution. She bravely stepped straight into the king's quarters to confront the crisis. Today, we must actively step into the tensions our kids face. Have the awkward conversations, monitor their technology use, and actively correct destructive habits before today's avoided boundaries become tomorrow's crisis.
2. Wisdom Secures the Promise: Bathsheba didn't use manipulation or emotional arguments; she simply reminded the king of the vow he made before God. True spiritual guidance means anchoring your household to what God has already declared. Your children are a sacred reward from heaven—fight for their destiny in prayer, knowing that their current rebellion is never the final chapter of their story.
3. Wisdom Stabilises the Future: Solomon grew up watching his mother step into tension with raw courage and handle crisis with unshakeable faith. Because wisdom is caught far more than it is taught, Solomon naturally asked God for a discerning heart rather than wealth or military victory. We are building foundations that will outlast us.
"Wisdom doesn't come from having all the answers; it often comes from the scars we carry and the faithfulness of the God who healed them."
Stop Trying and Start Surrendering
You cannot stabilise a shaky life or a broken family in your own strength. If you are exhausted from trying to fix your circumstances with worldly intellect, Jesus invites you to drop the heavy burdens. He is the ultimate architecture of wisdom, and He meets us exactly as we are.

Navigating the Long Season of Delay
Hannah found herself trapped in a multi-layered crisis: her womb was completely closed by a sovereign God, her rival persistently tormented her year after year, and her husband tried to soothe her deep pain with temporary, earthly affection.
Instead of choosing bitterness or taking matters into her own hands as Elkanah did, Hannah chose endurance. She understood that maturity isn't about winning an external argument with a bully; it's about knowing when an argument isn't worth your energy. Your peace is always more valuable than proving a point to someone who refuses to value your faith journey.
Three Pillars of Purpose-Driven Alignment
To navigate your delayed seasons and enter true spiritual guidance, you must build upon three core principles:
1. Be Exceptionally Specific: Hannah didn't just ask for a vague blessing; she specifically petitioned heaven for a son. She understood that a son could legally enter the temple gates to serve the Lord. Be specific in your prayers. God asks us, "What do you want Me to do for you?" because clarity precedes provision.
2. Transition to Heart-to-Heart Intercession: Eli the priest watched Hannah's lips move without hearing a single word and assumed she was intoxicated. But Hannah was in the deep closet of prayer, offloading her internal anguish to a Father who sees what is done in secret. True prayer changes our inner posture, lifting our downcast expressions before the answer even manifests in the natural realm.
3. Faithfully Fulfil Your Vows: The moment Samuel was weaned, Hannah didn't hold onto him out of fear or parental control. She immediately carried him back to Shiloh to present him to the Lord. When we make a vow to God, structural integrity demands that we fulfil it. By releasing her hold, she allowed Samuel to grow into one of the greatest intercessors in human history.
"Life does not open doors at the exact same time for every person. Do not let anyone make you feel inferior because your season hasn't shifted yet. Pray that when it shifts, it finds you prepared."
Released to Rebound Bountifully
As parents, letting go of what we love most is one of the most frightening things we can do in our daily Christian living. Whether it's releasing our children into the next phase of life or surrendering our personal resources to put the Kingdom first, we must learn to trust God's track record. When you give back to the Lord what originally came from His hand, He anchors your legacy in raw victory.

When we evaluate a great building, we rarely stop to praise the foundation. Why? Because it is hidden underground. Yet, if a foundational cornerstone is even one millimetre out of alignment, the entire structure will eventually lean and collapse.
The same structural truth applies to our families. Ahead of Mother's Day, we are launching our new series, Cornerstones of Legacy, to honour the unseen, spiritual foundations laid by women in the Bible that quietly hold families together and shape eternal destinies.
When you think of the book of Exodus, the name Moses instantly comes to mind. But before Moses ever faced the burning bush or confronted Pharaoh, a mother built a foundation of safety first. Her name was Jochebed, and she was the Architect of Protection.
Living in an Atmosphere of Fear
Jochebed faced a terrifying cultural landscape. Generations had passed since the era of Joseph, and a new Pharaoh had risen, ruling through fear. And because fear always leads to cruelty, Pharaoh implemented an aggressive three-part strategy to suppress the growing Hebrew population: harsh structural slavery, corporate infanticide through the midwives, and finally, a decree that every newborn boy must be thrown into the Nile River.
The Nile, the very source of life for Egypt, had been transformed into a graveyard. It was in this exact atmosphere of death that Jochebed gave birth.
The 3 'S's of Spiritual Architecture
To protect what God has placed in your hands, you must employ Jochebed's blueprint:
1. Seeing the Potential (Tov): Scripture says Jochebed looked at her son and saw that he was "beautiful." In the original Hebrew text, the word used is Tov, the exact same word God used in Genesis when He created the world and declared it "good." Jochebed didn't just see a cute baby; she recognised the goodness and destiny of God resting on his life. You cannot protect what you do not value. Stop accepting the labels the world places on your children, and start viewing them as God's masterpieces.
2. Sealing the Boundaries: When Moses grew too old to hide, Jochebed constructed a papyrus basket (Tiba—the identical word used for Noah's Ark). She didn't just build a basket; she built a vessel of salvation, coating it with tar and pitch to ensure the Nile's toxic waters couldn't leak in. In our daily Christian living, we must seal the boundaries of our homes. Apply the sealant of prayer and active presence to guard your children against peer pressure, social media manipulation, and worldly values.
3. Surrendering the Plans: There comes a "reed's moment" for every parent where control ends, and surrender begins. Jochebed physically let go of the basket, placing it strategically among the reeds. When you execute everything within your human power and obediently release what is precious to you into God's hands, spiritual guidance takes over. God ultimately used Pharaoh's own treasury to pay Jochebed to nurse her own child.
"The structural tensions you avoid confronting today will transform into the painful crises you must face tomorrow. Seal the boundaries early."
Identify Your Basket
This historical principle extends far beyond parenting. Whether your "basket" is a child, a struggling career, a health battle, or a buried dream floating in dangerous waters, you cannot preserve it in your own strength. Stop trying to patch the cracks with good deeds and self-help formulas. Bring your burdens to the altar, put the Kingdom first, and watch our extraordinary God transform your crisis into a beautiful legacy.
