Take Him as He Is

When life's sudden storms hit, do you exhaust yourself trying to control the waves? Discover why true peace means taking Jesus "just as He is" and why your deepest vulnerability is the perfect canvas for His power.

Ever faced an unexpected crisis right after doing exactly what God asked? In Mark 4, the disciples sailed directly into a furious, life-threatening squall simply because they obeyed Jesus’ command to cross the sea.

‭‭Mark‬ ‭4‬:‭35‬-‭41‬ ‭(NIV‬‬) “That day when evening came, He said to His disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took Him along, JUST AS HE WAS, in the boat. There were also other boats with Him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down, and it was completely calm. He said to His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!”

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down, and it was completely calm. He said to His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!”

In this message, Pastor Terence reveals why surviving life's sudden turbulence requires us to stop staring at the waves and start trusting the true nature of Christ through three core truths:

  • The Power of "Just as He Was": The disciples took Jesus into the boat exhausted and unpolished from a long day of ministry. We don't need to change Jesus to fit our preferences, nor do we need to clean up our lives before approaching Him. He meets us in our raw reality.

  • Obedience Doesn't Exempt You: Facing a storm doesn't mean you've failed or disobeyed. Some storms are deliberate, strategic tests designed to expand your faith.

  • Shift Your Focus: Jesus modelled the ultimate rest by sleeping through the chaos. When you lose absolute control over your circumstances, it gives God the perfect opportunity to step in and reveal His glory.

"If you are going to go into a storm, go into the storm with Jesus. Because the boat that is carrying Jesus will never sink."

The Test of Faith

A faith that cannot be tested is a faith that cannot be trusted. In the powerful conclusion of the "Walking with God" series, Terence Mupariwa explores the ultimate test of faith through the story of Abraham and Isaac. Discover why true spiritual maturity requires sacrifice, and why walking by faith doesn't mean leaving your common sense behind.

Welcome to the conclusion of our Walking with God series at All Nations Community Church. After discussing the importance of going in God’s direction, keeping His pace, and building intimacy, Terence Mupariwa wraps up by looking at the father of faith, Abraham. Through the intense story of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22, we learn that following God ultimately leads to a profound test of faith.

Three Lessons from Abraham's Test

God tests us to strengthen us, not to condemn us. As Terence explains, a faith that cannot be tested cannot be trusted. Here are three key takeaways from Abraham's journey to Mount Moriah:

1. A Willingness to be Sacrificial Walking with God requires a willingness to let go of the things that are most dear to us. God asked Abraham to sacrifice his promised son, Isaac, to see if Abraham loved the Creator more than the created. Our Christian faith demands that we do not elevate our blessings above the One who gave them. What is your "Isaac"? Is it your finances, your career, or a relationship?

2. Faith Does Not Mean Suspending the Mind Sometimes, believers spiritualize everything and forget to use the minds God gave them. Hebrews 11:19 tells us that Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead. He didn't just act blindly; he thought through God's character and promises. True faith partners with wisdom and due diligence.

3. Giving as a Measure of Maturity Sacrificial giving is a direct reflection of our spiritual maturity. Later in Scripture, King David refused to offer God a sacrifice that cost him nothing (2 Samuel 24). When we hold back our time, resources, or obedience, we reveal where our hearts truly are. But when we release what is in our hands, we step into a deeper level of trust and maturity with the Lord.

"Whatever is in the place of God, you have to bring to Mount Moriah."

What It Means to Walk with God

What does it truly mean to walk with God? In this foundational message, Terence Mupariwa launches a two-part series on our shared spiritual journey. Drawing from the powerful, mysterious life of Enoch, discover the five basic markers of a faithful walk and learn how to align your direction, pace, and heart with the living God.

Welcome to the start of a special mini-series at All Nations Community Church focused on the core of our Christian living: Walking with God. In this introductory message, Terence Mupariwa reminds us that while we are all on a personal faith journey, we must regularly revisit what it actually means to walk in step with a sovereign Creator.

The Powerful Testimony of Enoch

When looking for a model of what it means to step out in faith, we look to the book of Genesis. While the scriptures only dedicate a few verses to the patriarch Enoch, his legacy is profound: he walked faithfully with God, and then he was no more, because God took him. Living in a corrupt world filled with idol worship and ungodliness, Enoch made a radical choice to turn away from the crowd. His faithful walk began at age 65 after the birth of his son, Methuselah, proving that it is never too late to begin your walk with the living God. Because of his close relationship and alignment with divine spiritual guidance, Enoch bypassed death entirely—leaving an eternal blueprint for us today.

The 5 Markers of Walking with God

To walk with anyone in the natural requires agreement, and walking with the Lord is no different. Terence breaks down the five essential components of this divine walk:

  • 1. Going in God's Direction: Amos 3:3 asks, "Can two walk together without agreeing on the direction?" Walking with God means surrendering our own plans and following His perfectly marked path found in the Scriptures.

  • 2. Proceeding at God's Pace: We must resist the urge to run ahead of God out of impatience or lag behind through procrastination. True faith means keeping perfectly in step with the Holy Spirit.

  • 3. Sharing Intimacy with Him: Much like King David in the Psalms, God desires us to share every minute detail of our lives with Him—our joys, our sorrows, and our daily routines.

  • 4. Making Noticeable Progress: You cannot stay the same when you walk with the Lord. As we move forward, the Holy Spirit cleanses our speech, sharpens our discernment, and helps us see sin clearly.

  • 5. Arriving at a Destination: A true walk always leads somewhere. Whether it is reaching our full spiritual potential on this earth or being welcomed into eternal glory, God ensures that our steps have a final, beautiful destination.

"There is a place where a person can get to in God, where the focus of their attention is no longer on the things of this earth... all you'll be doing is just gliding over those things."

The Cornerstone of Purpose

If you don't understand the purpose of something, abuse or misuse is inevitable. In this week's installment of the Cornerstones of Legacy series, Pastor Terence Mupariwa explores the life of Hannah. Discover how an ultimate season of crisis can push you into a specific, heart-to-heart alignment with God's perfect plan.

Purpose simply means the reason why something exists—the original intent behind its creation. If we fail to understand the true design of our lives or our families, misuse becomes inevitable.

In this week's instalment of the Cornerstones of Legacy series at All Nations Community Church, Pastor Terence Mupariwa transitions our focus from protection to purpose. By studying the raw, persistent journey of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1, we learn how structural limitations can push us out of natural survival and into a designated destiny.

Navigating the Long Season of Delay

Hannah found herself trapped in a multi-layered crisis: her womb was completely closed by a sovereign God, her rival persistently tormented her year after year, and her husband tried to soothe her deep pain with temporary, earthly affection.

Instead of choosing bitterness or taking matters into her own hands as Elkanah did, Hannah chose endurance. She understood that maturity isn't about winning an external argument with a bully; it's about knowing when an argument isn't worth your energy. Your peace is always more valuable than proving a point to someone who refuses to value your faith journey.

Three Pillars of Purpose-Driven Alignment

To navigate your delayed seasons and enter true spiritual guidance, you must build upon three core principles:

  • 1. Be Exceptionally Specific: Hannah didn't just ask for a vague blessing; she specifically petitioned heaven for a son. She understood that a son could legally enter the temple gates to serve the Lord. Be specific in your prayers. God asks us, "What do you want Me to do for you?" because clarity precedes provision.

  • 2. Transition to Heart-to-Heart Intercession: Eli the priest watched Hannah's lips move without hearing a single word and assumed she was intoxicated. But Hannah was in the deep closet of prayer, offloading her internal anguish to a Father who sees what is done in secret. True prayer changes our inner posture, lifting our downcast expressions before the answer even manifests in the natural realm.

  • 3. Faithfully Fulfil Your Vows: The moment Samuel was weaned, Hannah didn't hold onto him out of fear or parental control. She immediately carried him back to Shiloh to present him to the Lord. When we make a vow to God, structural integrity demands that we fulfil it. By releasing her hold, she allowed Samuel to grow into one of the greatest intercessors in human history.

"Life does not open doors at the exact same time for every person. Do not let anyone make you feel inferior because your season hasn't shifted yet. Pray that when it shifts, it finds you prepared."

Released to Rebound Bountifully

As parents, letting go of what we love most is one of the most frightening things we can do in our daily Christian living. Whether it's releasing our children into the next phase of life or surrendering our personal resources to put the Kingdom first, we must learn to trust God's track record. When you give back to the Lord what originally came from His hand, He anchors your legacy in raw victory.

The Palace Experience

After years of trials in the pit and the prison, Joseph finally reaches the place of his destiny. Discover how God can shift your circumstances in an instant and why your greatest promotion is often preceded by your greatest test.

This week, we conclude our powerful series titled “The Pit and the Prison Before the Palace.”

In this finale message, Pastor Terence takes us into the triumphant conclusion of Joseph’s story in Genesis 41. After thirteen long years of waiting, Joseph is brought from the dungeon to the presence of Pharaoh, moving from a prisoner to the Prime Minister of Egypt in a single day.

The story reminds us that sometimes the journey God has for us includes seasons we never expected. Moments that feel confusing, painful, or unfair can suddenly appear along the road of life, but as Joseph’s life proves, God is always working behind the scenes. Whether it is the pit of despair or the prison of delay, every step was preparing Joseph for the weight of the palace.

Joseph’s story begins with a dream, but before the palace comes the pit. However, the pit and the prison are not the end—they are the path to a destiny that only God can provide.

The Prison Experience

Integrity doesn't always lead to immediate reward; sometimes, it leads to the prison. This week, we explore how to maintain our dignity and trust God's presence when life takes an unfair turn.

This week, we continue our series titled “The Pit and the Prison Before the Palace.”

In this message, Pastor Terence takes us further into the story of Joseph from Genesis 39. After surviving the pit and serving faithfully in Potiphar’s house, Joseph finds himself facing a new and unexpected trial: the prison.

The story reminds us that sometimes the journey God has for us includes seasons we never expected. Even when we do the right thing and honour God with our integrity, we can still face moments that feel confusing, painful, or unfair. Joseph was falsely accused and forgotten by men, yet the Bible tells us a vital truth: "The Lord was with Joseph."

Joseph’s story began with a dream, but we are reminded that after the pit and during the prison, God is still working behind the scenes to prepare us for the palace.
