This week, we continue our series titled “The Pit and the Prison Before the Palace.”
Pastor Terence takes us further into the story of Joseph from Genesis 39. After surviving the pit and serving faithfully in Potiphar’s house, Joseph finds himself facing a new and unexpected trial: the prison.
The story reminds us that sometimes the journey God has for us includes seasons we never expected. Even when we do the right thing and honour God with our integrity, we can still face moments that feel confusing, painful, or unfair. Joseph was falsely accused and forgotten by men, yet the Bible tells us a vital truth: "The Lord was with Joseph."
Joseph’s story began with a dream, but we are reminded that after the pit and during the prison, God is still working behind the scenes to prepare us for the palace.
What this means for you
Joseph did the right thing and still ended up in prison. That is hard to understand. We expect that if we honour God, life will go well. But sometimes doing what is right costs us something.
Notice what Joseph did in the prison. He did not become bitter. He served. He helped others. He used his gift to interpret dreams. And four times in Genesis 39 we read words like these: the Lord was with Joseph. Even in the darkest place, Joseph was not alone.
If you feel stuck, forgotten or treated unfairly, God is with you too. Keep your integrity. Keep serving where you are. Your faithfulness in the prison is preparing you for what comes next.
