Day 7: Fanning Your Flame
A fire that is left alone dies down. On Day 7 Paul tells a timid young leader to fan into flame the gift God has put in him, because the Spirit gives power, love and self-discipline.
Day 6: Empowerment
Good intentions are not enough to live for God. On Day 6 we ask Him to do by His power what we cannot do by ours, and to finish every good thing that faith has started.
Day 5: Victory Over Satan Through Prayer
We have a real enemy, and God has given us real armour. On Day 5 we put on what Christ has provided and learn to pray in the Spirit on every occasion.
Day 4: Submission to God’s Mission
Paul prays one thing for a young church: that they would be filled with the knowledge of God’s will. On Day 4 we pray it for ourselves, and we see what a life given to God’s mission produces.
Day 3: The One-Seat Throne
There is room for only one on the throne of a human heart. On Day 3 Moses tells us what God asks of His people, and why every command He gives is for our own good.
Day 2: Redefining Awesome
We call a meal or a goal awesome. Psalm 68 gives the word back its weight. On Day 2 we worship the God whose power is in the heavens, and who gives that power to His people.
Day 1: Power Walking
Paul gives us one instruction for the whole Christian life: walk by the Spirit. On Day 1 we learn what that looks like from Monday to Sunday, and why it is the only way to beat the pull of the flesh.
Day 7: Agape, Love That Lays Down Its Life
On the final day of our fast we come to the cross, where love gave everything. We thank God for the sacrifice of Jesus and hear His call to take up our cross and follow Him.
Day 6: Agape, Love with No Conditions
Agape is the love that gives and expects nothing back. It is how God loves us, and how He calls us to love. On Day 6 we ask the Holy Spirit to pour that love into our hearts.
Day 5: Philautia, Seeing Yourself as God Does
There is a selfish kind of self-love, and there is a healthy one. On Day 5 we learn to see ourselves the way God sees us, so that we are free to love Him and to love others well.
Day 4: Pragma, Love That Lasts
Feelings rise and fall, but mature love keeps choosing the other person. On Day 4 we look at the love that lasts through the years and makes allowance for each other’s faults.
Day 3: Storge, the Love of Family
Family love is the bond that grows from simply belonging together. On Day 3, Palm Sunday, we see that God has made His church a family, and we pray for unity among us.
Day 2: Philia, the Love of True Friends
Jesus called His disciples friends, and He told them that their love for one another would show the world who they belong to. On Day 2 we pray for real friendship in our church.
Day 1: Eros, Love Kept for Marriage
Romantic love is God’s idea and a good gift. On Day 1 we see why He designed it for marriage, and we pray for husbands and wives, for single people and for our young people.
Start Here: The Greatest of These Is Love
In the week before Easter 2022 we set aside seven days to pray, fast and think about love. Start here to see what the week covers, how each guide works and how to fast.
Day 22 and Beyond: Living as People of Peace
Our 21 days of prayer and fasting are complete. So what now? The last chapter of the Bible shows us where the story ends and how to live as people of peace for the rest of the year.
Day 21: Christ Himself Is Our Peace
On the final day of our fast we come to the cross, where Jesus broke down every dividing wall and made one new family from people of every nation.
Day 20: When the Wolf Lives with the Lamb
Isaiah saw a world where predator and prey lie down together and nothing harms or destroys. On Day 20 we lift our eyes to the peace Jesus will bring to all creation.
Day 19: Be Still: Peace for a World at War
The earth shakes, the nations rage, and God says, “Be still.” On Day 19 we take refuge in the God who ends wars, and we pray for peace in the nations and on our own streets.
Day 18: Great Peace in God’s Word
The world says freedom means no rules. The psalmist says great peace belongs to those who love God’s Word. On Day 18 we discover the peace that comes from trusting obedience.
