Day 19: Kingdom Power: The Holy Spirit’s Work - 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
Jesus never asked His followers to live the Christian life in their own strength. On Day 19 we look at the power of the Holy Spirit, and we ask to be filled again.
Day 19: Embracing The Fruit of The Spirit
Explore the Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23 on Day 19 of prayer and fasting. Reflect on love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, and their impact on Christian life and personal growth. Embrace these qualities for spiritual development.
Day 18: Embracing Our Spiritual Gifts
Explore spiritual gifts with Day 18 of our 21-day prayer & fasting series. Reflect on 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, recognizing each unique talent as a divine blessing. Learn to appreciate and utilize your gifts, whether they are teaching, helping, or simply offering kind words, for the betterment of the Church and to glorify God.
Day 5: Embracing The Gift of The Holy Spirit
Explore the power and presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. This reflection on John 14:26 emphasises the Holy Spirit as a guide and helper, offering strength and wisdom daily. Embrace this divine gift and deepen your faith through prayer and scripture.
Day 21: The More Empowered Life
Our 21 days end on our knees with Paul, asking for power in the inner being and praising the God who can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.
Day 20: Lakes or Rivers
A lake holds what it receives. A river passes it on. On Day 20 we look at Ezekiel’s river and at Jesus’ promise of living water, and ask the Spirit to flow through us.
Day 19: The Breath of The Spirit
On the evening of the first Easter Day, Jesus came through locked doors, spoke peace and breathed on His disciples. On Day 19 we receive His peace and His sending.
Day 12: GPS (God’s Positioning Spirit)
God has not left His children to find their own way. On Day 12 we learn how the Holy Spirit leads us, and why His voice is often heard when the church is worshipping and fasting.
Day 11: Expecting the Supernatural
Paul did not rely on clever words. His message came with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power. On Day 11 we ask God to do what only He can do, so that faith rests on Him.
Day 9: Fire on Your Head
At Pentecost the fire of God rested on each believer in the room, not on a chosen few. On Day 9 we look at what happened that morning and ask the Holy Spirit to fill us in the same way.
Day 8: The Final Promise
The last thing Jesus said before He ascended was a promise: you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. On Day 8 we see what that power is for, and that the promise is still open.
Day 7: Fanning Your Flame
A fire that is left alone dies down. On Day 7 Paul tells a timid young leader to fan into flame the gift God has put in him, because the Spirit gives power, love and self-discipline.
Day 6: Empowerment
Good intentions are not enough to live for God. On Day 6 we ask Him to do by His power what we cannot do by ours, and to finish every good thing that faith has started.
Day 1: Power Walking
Paul gives us one instruction for the whole Christian life: walk by the Spirit. On Day 1 we learn what that looks like from Monday to Sunday, and why it is the only way to beat the pull of the flesh.
Day 6: New Strength for the Weary
Tired in body, in mind or in spirit? On Day 6 we come to the God who never runs down, and we learn to stop striving in our own strength and rely on the Holy Spirit.
Day 6: The Arts, Gifted by the Spirit
The first person in the Bible said to be filled with God’s Spirit was an artist. On Day 6 we pray for music, film, sport and the arts, and for creative people who use their gifts for God.
Day 19: You Will Receive Power
Jesus told His disciples to wait until they were clothed with power. On Day 19 we look at the promise of the Holy Spirit and ask the Father to fill us with His presence and power.
Day 12: New Wine, New Wineskins
Jesus promised rivers of living water to everyone who is thirsty. On Day 12 we ask for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and for hearts made new and ready to hold what He pours in.
Day 8: Fruit That the Spirit Grows
The Holy Spirit lives in every believer, and He grows something in us. On Day 8 we look at the fruit of the Spirit, see what real love looks like and ask where we need to grow.
Day 5: The Eyes of Your Heart
It is possible to know all the right words and still be going through the motions. On Day 5 we pray Paul’s prayer for wisdom and revelation, and ask God to open the eyes of our hearts.
