The Father Is Always Watching for You

"The way of the Lord is strength for the upright, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity."

Proverbs 10:29 (NKJV)

Luke 15 contains one of the most powerful portraits of God ever painted in human language. A young man takes his inheritance, goes to a far country, wastes it all, and ends up broken and starving. And then, the text says, he came to himself. He remembered who he was and whose he was. He decided to go home.

The father in the parable does not wait inside for the son to knock. He is outside. He is watching. He sees the son while he is still a long way off. He runs. He embraces. He restores.

This is not a story about a father who eventually, reluctantly, forgives when the repentance is thorough enough. It is a story about a Father who never stopped looking, who has been running since the moment he sees you on the horizon, who restores not partially but completely.

Jesus told this parable to show us something true about God. Not just generally true, but specifically true. God looks for you. He longs for fellowship with you. He pursues. He is patient. He perseveres through our wandering in a way that no earthly parent ever perfectly manages.

All through Scripture, the same invitation echoes. Return to Me. The prodigal story is not an exception. It is a summary of God's posture toward humanity from Genesis to Revelation.

Perhaps you have been wandering. Perhaps you have been in a far country, not literally but spiritually: distant from God, living on the scraps of things that were never meant to satisfy. Perhaps you can sense, at some deep level, that you are a long way from home.

Your Father is not waiting with crossed arms and a list of grievances. He is watching from the porch. He is already running.

Come home today. The door is open, and the welcome is real.

Prayer: Father, I have been far from home in so many ways. But I am coming back. Thank You that You have never stopped watching, never stopped waiting, never stopped running toward those who turn back to You. I come home today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
