Your Past is Not Your Architect
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) - "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!"
As we closed our time together on Sunday, I wanted to ensure one truth sank deeply into your spirit: Your past is not your architect; God is. Bathsheba moved from the shadows of scandal to the strength of stability. She achieved this not because she was perfect, but because she positioned herself in God's will.
Too many Christians are paralysed by the shame of their past mistakes. They believe their failures have disqualified them from spiritual leadership in their homes. But as Timothy Keller notes in Counterfeit Gods, "If you make your past your identity, you will never be able to move into the future God has for you." Your past mistakes are facts, but they are not your foundation. Bring the broken pieces of your history to the feet of Jesus. He is the master builder who uses redeemed stones to build glorious temples.
Prayer:
Father, I openly renounce and reject the lies of the enemy, which falsely tell me that my past disqualifies or discredits my future. I trust You wholeheartedly as the Divine Architect and Builder of my life. Please take my history every mistake, struggle, and victory and build something truly beautiful and purposeful out of it. I surrender my past into Your hands, confident that You can transform it into something good. In Jesus' name, Amen.
