Stabilising the Future

1 Kings 4:29 (NLT) - "God gave Solomon very great wisdom and understanding, and knowledge as vast as the sands of the seashore."

Every parent eventually faces a legacy moment. It is the moment when the faith you fought for becomes the foundation they build upon. Because Bathsheba stepped into the tension and secured the promise, she stabilised the nation's future. Solomon stepped onto the throne not because of luck, but because of a foundation.

We often marvel at Solomon's great wisdom, but we must remember that the wisdom and foundation of his kingdom were secured by a mother who knew how to fight spiritual battles. Charles Bridges, in his Commentary on Proverbs, writes, "The child is the father of the man. The seeds of the future are sown in the nursery." God used a woman with a broken past to raise a king who wrote the book of Proverbs! Stand with courage today. Fight for the calling. And watch God build a legacy that outlasts your lifetime.

Lord, I really want to leave a lasting legacy of stability and wisdom for those who come after me. I pray that the faith I stand for today will be the strong foundation, like a solid rock, that my children and future generations will build their lives on tomorrow. In Jesus' name, Amen.
