Day 22 and Beyond: Staying Connected
Our 21 days of prayer and fasting are complete. So what now? A phone that is fully charged still needs plugging in tomorrow. Here is how to stay connected to Jesus all year.
Day 21: The Resurrection and the Life
We finish our fast at the empty tomb. On Day 21 we hear Jesus say that He is the resurrection and the life, see what His rising proves and answer the question He asked Martha.
Day 20: Darkness at Noon
At midday the sky went dark, and Jesus cried out from the cross. On Day 20 we stand in that darkness, see what it opened for us and pray for a world in need.
Day 19: The King with a Towel
On the night before the cross, the King of kings knelt with a towel and a bowl of water. On Day 19 we let Jesus wash us, and we ask whose feet He is sending us to wash.
Day 18: He Suffered to Bring Us Home
One verse holds the whole gospel: Christ suffered for our sins once for all time, to bring us safely home to God. On Day 18 we stand at the cross and give thanks.
Day 17: Hearts That Burn for Jesus
The word passion once meant suffering. On Day 17 we walk the Emmaus road with two discouraged disciples, and ask Jesus to set our hearts on fire with a love that obeys.
Day 16: Grace for the Humble
Pride is the one fault we can see in everybody but ourselves. On Day 16 we look at the damage it does, and at Jesus, who humbled Himself all the way to the cross.
Day 15: Coming Clean with God
Guilt tells us to hide. Grace tells us to come. On Day 15, as we begin our final week at the cross, we learn what confession is and why we can be sure of forgiveness.
Day 14: Your Kingdom Come
Jesus taught us to pray for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth. On Day 14 we ask what that means, and we find that we become part of the answer.
Day 13: Bold Before the Throne of Grace
On Mount Carmel, Elijah prayed a short and fearless prayer, and God answered with fire. On Day 13 we see where boldness comes from, and why we can pray with even greater confidence.
Day 12: Turning Worry into Prayer
Worry is a conversation with yourself. Prayer is a conversation with God. On Day 12 we learn from Paul, writing in chains, how to exchange one for the other.
Day 11: Created for Good Works
You were saved by grace, and you were made for a purpose. On Day 11 we ask God to show us the good works He has prepared for us, and to fill us with His power to do them.
Day 10: A Deep Clean for the Soul
Dust gathers where nobody looks. On Day 10 we ask the Holy Spirit to search the corners of our lives, to restore our joy and to set our minds on life and peace.
Day 9: Under God’s Mighty Hand
In God’s kingdom the way up is down. On Day 9 we see that humility is something we choose, and we learn to hand our worries to the God who cares for us.
Day 8: The Words We Speak
A bit, a rudder and a spark are all small, and all powerful. On Day 8 we look at what our words can do, where they come from and how God can use them to bring life.
Day 7: Prayer That Does Not Give Up
Elijah was as human as we are, yet when he prayed, things changed. On Day 7 we go with him to an upstairs room and learn what earnest, persistent prayer looks like.
Day 6: New Strength for the Weary
Tired in body, in mind or in spirit? On Day 6 we come to the God who never runs down, and we learn to stop striving in our own strength and rely on the Holy Spirit.
Day 5: Faith as Small as a Mustard Seed
The disciples could not help a suffering boy, and they asked Jesus why. On Day 5 we bring our unbelief to Him and discover what even a mustard seed of faith can do.
Day 4: Into the Wilderness with Jesus
Even Jesus stepped away from the crowd to fast and pray. On Day 4 we follow Him into the wilderness and ask what has been taking the edge off our hunger for God.
Day 3: Fed by the Word of God
You can read a menu all day and still be hungry. On Day 3 we see how Jesus was sustained by the Word of God, and we learn to feed on Scripture and do what it says.
