Day 22 and Beyond: A Life of Seeking God
Bible passage: Hebrews 11:6; Psalm 9:10; Psalm 27:8
Now What?
Our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting are complete. Well done for finishing. The question now is the one that matters most. What happens tomorrow?
The answer is simple, though it is not easy. Decide. Decide to love God and to seek Him. Nobody slides into a close walk with God by accident. It is a choice, and we make it again each morning.
Why It Is Worth It
He Rewards Those Who Seek Him
Hebrews tells us that it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe two things: that God exists, and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).
Think about what that says about God. He is not reluctant, and He does not make Himself hard to find. He delights to reward people who come looking for Him. And the greatest reward is God Himself.
He Does Not Abandon Seekers
David had tested this through a hard life, and he could say to God that “you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.” Psalm 9:10 (NLT)
When God invited David to come and talk with Him, David’s heart answered that he was coming (Psalm 27:8). The invitation has not been withdrawn.
Daily
Four Daily Decisions
Daily, give Him your whole heart. Begin each day by telling God that you are His.
Daily, look for Him. Watch for Him in the people you meet, in what happens to you and in the world He has made.
Daily, read His Word. If you need help, a Bible app with reading plans can give you a passage for every day.
Daily, make the effort. It will take intention, desire and time. It will be worth it, as you come to know Him and love Him more.
Do Not Do It Alone
God made us to live in relationship with others. That is part of His design, and nobody thrives as a Christian alone. One of the best ways to keep growing is to belong to a Life Group, where a few people meet to pray, open the Bible and share life together. If you are not yet part of one, please ask us.
Keep Praying Together
Look out for the times when our church family meets to pray, and come when you can. And when the church next sets aside days to pray and fast together, join in.
Will you carry on seeking the God who made the universe, who loves you completely and who wants to walk with you every day? The reward is great, because God is great.
Prayer for Today:
Father, thank You for all that You have done in me over these 21 days. I do not want this to be the end. I decide today to keep seeking You. I give You my whole heart. Open Your Word to me each day, and open my eyes to see You at work around me. Put me alongside others who love You, and keep me close to You all year. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Keep going
