The Foundation That Never Moves
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."
2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)
There was a moment in my own walk with God when I had to make a decision about the Bible. Not just whether I believed in God, but whether I truly believed that this Book was His Word, reliable, authoritative, sufficient.
It is a decision every serious follower of Christ must make. Because if the Bible is merely a collection of human wisdom, then we can take it or leave it, pick the parts we like, and quietly discard the parts that challenge us. But if it is God-breathed, if every word is the actual Word of the living God, then it changes everything about how we live.
The word Paul uses here is remarkable: God-breathed. Scripture did not emerge from human inspiration in the way a poem or novel does. It came from the very breath of God. Just as God breathed life into Adam and he became a living being, God breathed truth into the writers of Scripture, and they wrote exactly what He intended.
This means when you open your Bible, you are not simply reading ancient literature. You are encountering the living voice of God. He is speaking to you through these pages that have outlasted every empire, survived every attempt at destruction, and changed more lives than any other book in history.
Paul says it is useful for teaching, giving us the truth where we are ignorant. For rebuking, showing us where we have gone wrong. For correcting, pointing us back to the right path. And for training in righteousness, shaping us over time into people of genuine Christlike character.
The Bible is not just for crisis moments. It is for every day. It is the daily bread of the soul. Just as you would not go for days without food and expect to stay healthy, you cannot go for days without God's Word and expect to remain spiritually strong.
Build your life on this foundation. Not on popular opinion, not on your feelings, not on the shifting values of the culture, but on the unchanging, unshakeable, eternally reliable Word of God.
It will never move beneath you.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for giving us Your Word. Open my eyes to see its truth more clearly and give me a genuine hunger to read it. Let Your Word be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path every single day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
