Day 7: Agape, Love That Lays Down Its Life
On the final day of our fast we come to the cross, where love gave everything. We thank God for the sacrifice of Jesus and hear His call to take up our cross and follow Him.
Day 6: Agape, Love with No Conditions
Agape is the love that gives and expects nothing back. It is how God loves us, and how He calls us to love. On Day 6 we ask the Holy Spirit to pour that love into our hearts.
Day 5: Philautia, Seeing Yourself as God Does
There is a selfish kind of self-love, and there is a healthy one. On Day 5 we learn to see ourselves the way God sees us, so that we are free to love Him and to love others well.
Day 4: Pragma, Love That Lasts
Feelings rise and fall, but mature love keeps choosing the other person. On Day 4 we look at the love that lasts through the years and makes allowance for each other’s faults.
Day 3: Storge, the Love of Family
Family love is the bond that grows from simply belonging together. On Day 3, Palm Sunday, we see that God has made His church a family, and we pray for unity among us.
Day 2: Philia, the Love of True Friends
Jesus called His disciples friends, and He told them that their love for one another would show the world who they belong to. On Day 2 we pray for real friendship in our church.
Day 1: Eros, Love Kept for Marriage
Romantic love is God’s idea and a good gift. On Day 1 we see why He designed it for marriage, and we pray for husbands and wives, for single people and for our young people.
