As we step into the festive season, it is easy to get pulled by the noise of adverts, food, gifts, and busy plans. But Christmas is bigger than a season; it is the celebration of the birth of a King. Pastor Terence calls us back to the centre: Jesus.
We begin at the Lord’s Table, remembering the gift of salvation and examining our hearts with gratitude and repentance.
Then we open the Scriptures to see that Jesus’ coming was not random; it was rooted in prophecy and woven through the whole Bible. From Genesis to Isaiah, from the promise of a coming Seed to the names of the coming King, we see God’s plan unfolding with order and power. Jesus is fully God and fully man, the Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. This Christmas, let our homes, our hearts, and our worship return to one focus: come, let us adore Him.
What this means for you
Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, God told His people He was coming. Isaiah 9:6 says, for to us a child is born, to us a son is given. Micah 5:2 even named the town: Bethlehem. Christmas was not an accident. It was God keeping His promise.
If God kept His word about the birth of His Son, He will keep His word to you. Every promise He has made in the Bible is yes in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20). You can trust Him with your family, your future and your fears.
This Christmas, try to make space for Jesus in the busyness. Read the Christmas story together as a family. Invite a friend to church. Give to someone in need. And take time to simply worship the One who came for you.
