Nothing Is Too Hard for God

"Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you."

Jeremiah 32:17 (NIV)

There is a question that I have been asked in various forms throughout my years of ministry, and it is a genuinely important one: are there things God cannot do? The answer may surprise you. Yes, there are.

God cannot lie. He cannot go back on His promises. He cannot do anything that is contrary to His own holy character. He cannot be unjust or impure or unfaithful. These are not limitations that reflect weakness. They are the expression of a perfect character. God cannot do evil because He is perfectly good.

But those are not the kinds of things people are thinking about when they ask the question. They are thinking about the situation they are facing that feels impossible. The prayer that seems to be hitting a ceiling. The door that appears permanently closed. The relationship that looks beyond repair. The diagnosis that has no natural solution.

And for all of that, the answer is clear: nothing is too hard for God.

Jeremiah wrote this declaration while in prison. He was speaking to a nation in exile, whose future looked comprehensively ruined. The city was being destroyed. The people were being taken away. By every human assessment, it was over. And into that situation, Jeremiah declares: You made the heavens and the earth. Nothing is too hard for You.

If God could bring Jesus back from the dead, what in your life is beyond His reach? If He could part the Red Sea, sustain Israel in the wilderness, call a nation into existence from a childless couple past childbearing age, then what is the problem you are facing that requires more power than He possesses?

Put your impossible situation into His hands today. Not because it is easy. But because it is not beyond the God who made everything.

Prayer: Lord, I bring to You today the situation that looks impossible to me. I know that nothing is too hard for You. I release it from my grip and place it into Your hands. Do what only You can do, in Your way and Your timing. In Jesus' name, Amen.
