Jesus Is the Truth

"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

John 8:32 (NKJV)

We live in an age of profound confusion about truth. From philosophical lecture halls to social media comment sections, the message is the same: truth is relative, truth is personal, what is true for you is not necessarily true for me. This is not a new idea, but it has never been more pervasive or more aggressively promoted than it is in our generation.

Jesus Christ steps into the middle of this confusion and makes a statement of breathtaking clarity: I am the way, the truth, and the life. Not a truth among many. Not a perspective that some people find helpful. The truth. The actual, objective reality of who God is and what it means to be human and what happens after death. All of it rooted in a person, not a philosophy.

Dozens of times in the gospels, Jesus begins a statement with the words 'I tell you the truth.' He was not hedging. He was not inviting discussion about whether the statement applied to certain people in certain cultural contexts. He was asserting that what He was about to say was simply, absolutely, universally true.

And John writes that grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. Truth is not a cold, abstract doctrine. It is a gift that arrives wrapped in grace. The truth about sin is given alongside the truth about forgiveness. The truth about our failure is given alongside the truth about redemption. Truth in the hands of Jesus is always in the service of love.

Because Jesus is absolute truth, you can depend on Him absolutely. In a world where everything seems uncertain, where the ground shifts beneath every claim and every promise, here is a foundation that does not move. His Word is true. His promises are true. His character is consistent. He cannot lie.

Do not be swept away by the moral and spiritual relativity of our age. God has revealed His truth. It stands. And the truth, when you truly encounter it in the person of Jesus Christ, will set you free.

Not just intellectually free. Actually free.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the truth. In a world full of confusion and contradiction, anchor me in You. Let Your Word be the standard by which I measure everything else. And let Your truth set me free in every area where I am still living a lie. Amen.
