He Was Looking for You First

My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
— Psalm 63:8 (ESV)

Have you ever suddenly thought about God in the middle of an ordinary day?

You were not in church. No one was preaching. No worship music was playing. Yet something inside you stirred. A quiet pull. A deep ache. A whisper you could not explain.

That moment was not random. That was God.

Long before you ever thought of seeking Him, He was already seeking you. The desire to pray, the hunger to know Him, the restlessness for something more, all of it begins with Him.

We pursue God because He first placed the pursuit inside us.

Psalm 63:8 says, “My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.” That is the beautiful truth of the Christian life. We cling to God, but He is the One holding us. We seek Him, but He is the One drawing us.

So if today you feel even the smallest pull towards God, do not ignore it. That hunger is holy. It is the fingerprint of God on your soul.

You may feel too far gone, too broken, too late, or too unworthy. But if there is a longing in you, however small, that longing has been placed there by the King of heaven Himself.

Begin where you are. Speak to Him in plain words. Tell Him you are hungry. Tell Him you want to know Him, not just know about Him.

The pursuit of God is not a lonely search for a distant God. It is the joyful coming home of a child whose Father has been waiting all along.

Reflection

  1. When was the last time you felt God drawing you, and how did you respond?

  2. What would change today if you truly believed God has been seeking you first?

Prayer

Father, thank You for seeking me before I ever sought You. Thank You for the holy hunger in my heart. Today I say yes to Your invitation. I want more of You, not just Your blessings, not just Your answers, but You. Draw me deeper by Your Spirit, and help me walk closely with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Declaration

I am not chasing a distant God. The God of heaven is pursuing me, and today I run into His arms.
