God's Power in Your Weakness

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

Perhaps you have been asked to do something for God that feels far beyond your ability. A Sunday school class, a leadership role, a conversation about faith that you feel completely unprepared for. You look at the task, and you look at yourself, and the gap between the two feels enormous.

You are in good company.

Moses felt it: I am not eloquent. Jeremiah felt it: I am only a child. Paul felt it: Who is sufficient for these things? These are not performances of false humility. These are honest men facing genuine inadequacy. And in each case, God's response was essentially the same: I know. That is why I am sending you rather than leaving you to go alone.

God says to Paul in 2 Corinthians 12: My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. This is not spiritual encouragement designed to make Paul feel better. It is a theological truth about how God works. His power operates most freely and most visibly precisely in the places where human capacity runs out.

Why? Because when a person who is visibly inadequate by every human measure produces genuinely significant fruit for God, nobody can take the credit. The only explanation is God. The weakness becomes the very thing that makes God's power unmistakable.

So when God calls you to something that feels too big for you, that feeling is not a sign that you should not do it. It may actually be a sign that you should. Because the gap between your ability and the task is exactly the space in which God works.

Do not be afraid to take a step of faith in response to God's call. Rely on Him as you go. And watch what He does with your willing inadequacy.

His power is made perfect in weakness. That means your weakness is actually an asset in His hands.

Prayer: Lord, I confess my inadequacy for what You are calling me to. But I step forward trusting that Your power is made perfect in my weakness. Fill the gap between what I can do and what You are asking. Use my willingness and Your ability. In Jesus' name, Amen.
