The Unseen Architecture
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.”
When we admire a beautiful building, we usually don’t think about what’s hidden underground. We notice the stained glass, the tall steeples, and the impressive arches. But without a strong foundation, the whole building is at risk. As I mentioned on Sunday, legacy starts with foundations. The cornerstone sets the building’s position, angle, and strength. If it’s even a millimetre off, the building could eventually fall.
In our families, mothers often create this hidden spiritual foundation. Their daily prayers, gentle guidance, and steady love become the base for a child’s future. A.W. Tozer wrote in his book titled: The Knowledge of the Holy, "What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." Mothers and fathers have a special role in shaping those first thoughts about God. The world might not notice the quiet work of a mother holding her family together, but heaven sees it. Your unseen efforts are building a legacy that will last beyond your lifetime.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for being the sure foundation and the chief cornerstone of my life. Thank you for your sacrifice, love, and grace that have made my faith possible. Help me to fix my eyes on you as I build spiritual foundations for the next generation. May your presence guide my daily prayers and actions, so that everything I do points my family and those around me to your saving love. Strengthen me by your Spirit to walk in your ways, trust in your promises, and reflect your character. Let my quiet faithfulness become a legacy that draws others to know you personally. In your holy name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
