Day 18: Word Became Flesh
JOHN 1:14 (NIV) 14 βThe Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truthβ.
DEVOTIONAL:
The message of John 1:14 is a central one in the Christian faith. It tells us that God didn't stay far away but came close to us in Jesus. This shows God's immense love and His wish to be close to us.
Jesus, who was both God and a man, showed us the perfect mix of kindness and truth. In the Old Testament, these qualities were key to God's promise to His people. In Jesus, they were shown through His life, teachings, miracles, and, most importantly, His death and resurrection. Jesus didn't just talk about God's love; He showed it in action.
Jesus' life is a guide for us. He taught us to be kind to others, even when they don't deserve it, and to always stick to the truth. His stories and actions show us a way of living that's kind, fair, and honest, which is what He wants us to follow.
Reflecting on Jesus' life, we see someone who was friends with people others didn't like, who cared for those who were ignored, and who wasn't afraid to speak the truth. He didn't judge others but offered them a way to get better. He was always honest but never harsh.
Thinking about Jesus becoming human helps us understand that this isn't just a story from the past. It affects us here and now. Jesus being human shows us how to have a real and active faith, where we show kindness and truth like Jesus did in our everyday lives. This means forgiving those who have upset us, standing up for what's right, and living in a way that shows God's love and fairness.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for sending Jesus to us. His life teaches us so much about Your love, kindness, and truth. Help us understand more about what He did for us and show us how to live like Him. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
Action Step:
Today, think about how you can show kindness and truth in your life. Look for chances to be kind to others or to stand up for what's true. Remember, it's through the small things we do every day that we really show our faith.
