The Importance of a Father’s Blessing

Good morning, ANCC Men of Honour! As we welcome another day granted by God, let us reflect on the significant role of fatherly blessings in shaping identities, as illustrated in Genesis 48.

The story of Jacob blessing his grandsons on his deathbed is powerful. It illustrates how identity and purpose have been traditionally passed down from father to son, shaping the lives of many generations. The blessing is not just a ritual; it is a declaration of destiny and character directly from a father’s heart to his child. 

Unfortunately, many men today go through life without this precious inheritance. They end up searching for their identity in places and with people who are far from what God intended. Whether it’s giving in to the appeal of gangs or other negative influences, the lack of a father’s blessing creates a void.

It’s never too late to seek or contribute this blessing. Welcome the power you hold to affirm and empower the next generation with the truth of who they are in Christ. You are more than conquerors, mighty men of valour, sons of the Most High, destined for greatness. Let’s ensure we pass on this glorious heritage.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the men gathered on this WhatsApp group, champions in Your kingdom. Lord, guide us to affirm and bless our sons and brothers in Christ, imparting to them their true identity as Your beloved. Strengthen us to be pillars of wisdom and love, mirroring Your heart to those in need of fatherly love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
