Walking in Whose Likeness?

Wednesday, 10 July 2024

Good morning, Men of Honour, and welcome to another blessed day! Today, let us think about how we can be more like our Heavenly Father instead of just following our earthly family's mistakes.

In Genesis 5:3, we see a cycle begin with Adam fathering Seth in his own likeness, a likeness stained by sin. This cycle of inheriting sin and shortcomings from our fathers is a common theme throughout generations. For example, Abraham lied out of fear, and his son Isaac did the same later on. Scripture shows us that our natural tendency is to follow our earthly father's example, for better or for worse.

However, as believers, we are no longer bound to this earthly pattern. Galatians 4:7 reminds us that through Jesus Christ, we are God's sons and heirs, transformed to reflect the image of our Eternal Father. We are called to break the cycle of sin and adopt a new identity in Christ, one that mirrors the holiness and purity of God Himself.

Let us be intentional today to follow our Heavenly Father’s example, growing more like Him every day.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, thank You for adopting us as Your sons through Jesus Christ. Help us to shed the old patterns of sin that we have inherited and to walk in Your holy and righteous ways. Strengthen us to be men who not only seek Your face but also reflect Your grace and truth in our lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.
