The Focus: “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” (1 Corinthians 2:4–5)

The Passage: Acts 2:1–11

The Focus: “Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be TONGUES OF FIRE that separated and CAME TO REST ON EACH OF THEM. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” (Acts 2:2–4)

The Meditation: “Tongues of fire . . . came to rest on each of them.”

The Passage: Acts 1:1–11

The Focus: “He said to them: ‘It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority. But YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES ON YOU; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. After He said this, He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid Him from their sight.’” (Acts 1:7–9)

The Meditation: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.”

The Passage: 2 Timothy 1:6–14

The Focus: “For this reason I remind you to FAN INTO FLAME THE GIFT OF GOD, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. FOR THE SPIRIT God gave us does not make us timid, but GIVES US POWER, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me His prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.” (2 Timothy 1:6–8)
