When Chaos Tries to Steal the Promise
1 Kings 1:18 (NLT) - "But instead, Adonijah has made himself king, and my lord the king does not even know about it."
Generations passed, King David grew old, and the political atmosphere shifted. Into this vacuum of leadership stepped Adonijah, staging a fake coronation and seizing the throne. Chaos took over the kingdom. And church, as we saw on Sunday, chaos always tries to steal the promise.
Whenever God declares a destiny over your family, you can be certain the enemy will manufacture confusion to derail it. The palace had become a battleground for God’s purpose. Yet, Bathsheba did not panic. She knew what God had promised David regarding her son, Solomon. In Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis writes, "Faith, in the sense in which I am here using the word, is the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted, in spite of your changing moods." Bathsheba held onto the promise despite the shifting political moods of Israel. When chaos erupts in your home, do not accept the fake coronation of fear or rebellion. Hold fast to what God has spoken.
Prayer:
Father, when chaos surrounds my family and tries to take away Your promises, please give me the spiritual eyes to see the enemy's plans. Help me to have the faith to stay strong and trust in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
