Securing the Promise
1 Kings 1:17 (NLT) - "She replied, 'My lord, you made a vow before the Lord your God when you said to me, "Your son Solomon will surely be the next king..."'"
Stepping into the tension is only half the battle. Once you are there, you have to know what to fight for. Bathsheba didn't just walk into the King's bedroom to complain about Adonijah; she walked in to secure a promise. In the middle of a national crisis, she stood on the Word that was spoken over her child. She saw the calling of God resting on that young man.
What is faith? Faith is fighting for what God has already declared. Faith sees the throne where the world sees a threat. Charles Spurgeon wrote in Faith's Chequebook, "A promise is like a check... It is meant to be presented, and to be cashed." Bathsheba was presenting the check. When the world tells you that your family is falling apart or that your child will never amount to anything, you must remind the atmosphere of the promise of God. You cannot build what you will not fight for.
Prayer:
Lord, please remind me of the promises You have spoken over my life and the lives of my family members. Help me to stand firm and unwavering in my faith, fighting with perseverance and conviction until those promises are fulfilled. Teach me to trust in Your faithfulness and patience, remaining steadfast even through challenges. In Jesus' name, Amen.
