Fighting for the Soul
James 5:16 (NLT) - "The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results."
Why did Bathsheba fight so hard for Solomon? Because she knew his true value. If we want to build a legacy, we must fight for the souls of our children. I shared the story of Monica, a mother who understood this deeply. Her son was living a wild, rebellious life, rejecting her faith and joining a cult. The world saw a lost cause, but Monica knew he was a gift from God.
She kept securing the promise, weeping and praying for him every single day. She refused to stop. That wild boy grew up to become St. Augustine, one of the greatest theologians in church history. Augustine later wrote of his mother in his Confessions, "She wept for me, shedding more tears for my spiritual death than other mothers shed for the bodily death of a son." That is the power of a mother who fights for the soul. If your child is wandering, do not give up. Heaven hears every tear and honours every prayer.
Prayer:
Lord, I lift up the soul of my child and my loved ones to You. I trust in Your mercy and grace. Please give me the patience and strong faith of Monica, so I never stop praying and believing that Your grace can reach them, no matter where they are. Make my heart stronger and help me be patient while I wait for You to act. I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
