DEVOTIONAL:
MAIN SCRIPTURE: Colossians 3:12 (NLT) 12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
The urge to show compassion isn't just a good idea; it's a God-given mandate for anyone who calls themselves a disciple of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul tells us not to just feel these virtues but to "clothe ourselves" in them. Imagine wearing a coat made of compassion, a shirt of kindness, and shoes of patience. When you wear these virtues like a clothing, you are doing more than just shielding yourself; you are also bringing comfort and encouragement to those around you.
Just like how a lighthouse guide ships safely to shore, your compassion can guide people towards the love and grace of God. You become the hands and feet of Christ, actively participating in His redemptive work in the world.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the love and compassion You have shown me. Help me to clothe myself in Your love, that I might be Your hands and feet to those in need. In Jesus' name, Amen.
ACTION STEP:
1. Intentional Practice: Write down three qualities such as compassion, kindness, or patience—that you want to focus on this week.
2. Mindful Moments: Look for chances to show these qualities, whether it's simply listening to a friend or volunteering to help others.
3. Reflection: At week's end, think back on when you showed these virtues. How did it make you and others feel? Let these experiences inspire you to keep growing in Christ's likeness.
