So, how can we do this? How can we stay encouraged and persevere through delays and detours, trusting in God's perfect timing? Here are a few things to keep in mind:

His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). We can learn a lot from Job's example. When we experience suffering, it can be easy to lose hope and become discouraged. We may question why God is allowing us to go through this pain. However, like Job, we can find hope by trusting in God's goodness and sovereignty. We may not understand why we are suffering, but we can trust that God is with us and that he has a plan for our lives.

One of the most powerful moments in the book of Job is when God speaks to Job directly. God reminds Job of his sovereignty and power, and Job responds by saying, "My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you" (Job 42:5). Salvation

Salvation is being saved or rescued from the penalty of separation from God. To be saved from your sin, take these three steps: Ask forgiveness for your sins; be willing to turn from your sins; and believe that Jesus Christ—our Lord and Saviour—died for your sins and rose again.

If you have done these things, you are saved! You have salvation, which means you have accepted God’s love and forgiveness, are adopted into His family and have fellowship with His people—your fellow Christians. You are free from the power of sin—a child of God! The Bible promises you eternity in heaven (Romans 10:9-10).

How are we saved?

John 3:16-17 and John 10:10 tell of God's great love for us. Because of His love, He wants us to come to Him just as we are. He wants to have a personal relationship with us and longs for us to talk to Him freely about our sins and our needs. God revealed His love for us by sending His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins more than 2,000 years ago. Jesus understands us because He lived as a man on earth for 33 years. He lived a sinless life and paid the price for our sins by offering Himself as the perfect sacrifice on the cross. He rose from the dead three days later and went up into heaven, where He intercedes on our behalf (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25).

Don’t good people go to heaven?

Many people think that being good will get them into heaven—that if they are nice, don’t commit any crimes and try to do the right thing, they have earned their way into God’s kingdom.

But the Bible says we all fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). We all sin, and the penalty for sin is death (Romans 6:23). There’s nothing we can do to earn our way into heaven.

But God made a way by sending Jesus Christ to die for our sins! None of us are good enough to get to heaven on our own, but if we ask Christ into our lives, we can look forward to eternity with Him in heaven. It’s not about good things you’ve done, but about what Christ has done for you (Ephesians 2:8). It’s not about emotions you might feel, but about what God’s Word tells you (1 John 5:11-13). Jesus provides the only path to salvation.

So what do I do?

Jesus has all power and authority over sin and evil (Matthew 28:18; Hebrews 2:14-15; 1 John 3:8), and through Him we can also live victorious lives. We read in 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” The Bible also says in 1 Corinthians 15:57: “Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

To be saved, admit to God that you are a sinner. We are all sinners and because God is holy, He cannot tolerate sin. Yet because He loves us, He forgives our sins when we ask for forgiveness. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation, but it is only by God’s grace—His undeserved mercy—that we can be saved.

That doesn’t mean we should go on sinning, relying on God to forgive us later. God is holy, and our sin is a direct rebellion against His holiness. We should take it seriously, realize we were wrong and actively try to turn from our sins—that’s called repentance. Repentance carries with it the idea of confession, remorse and changing our ways to become more like Jesus.

Once you repent and ask forgiveness, recognising Jesus as your Savior, thank God for His love and acceptance of you. If we give ourselves to Jesus, He comes into our hearts and lives there (Revelation 3:20). We must commit ourselves to Him and trust Him alone as our Savior and Lord.

Have complete confidence in everlasting life by accepting Christ, and experience the joy that comes from knowing Him personally.

Sharpening Our Tools

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

— Ephesians 6:11 (NIV)

The battle against evil is not for the faint of heart. It requires us to be fully equipped with the armour of God and to use every tool at our disposal. Preaching, teaching, praying, giving - all of these are important weapons in our arsenal. But we must also be prepared to use talents that we may have thought too insignificant for service. Every moment of time, every ability we possess, every opportunity must be utilised.

In order to be effective in this battle, we must be adaptable and willing to sharpen our tools. Quickness of perception, tact, energy, promptness - these are all important traits that we can develop in order to serve God more effectively. We must also be willing to learn from our enemies. Just as the Philistines sharpened the Israelites' tools, we can learn from Satan's infernal industry and go about like good Samaritans, seeking whom we may bless.

Practical common sense is a rare thing among those working in Christian enterprises. But we can learn from others who exhibit energy and perseverance, such as those who travel over sea and land to make one proselyte, or those who endure torture in service to their idols. We can also learn from Satan and his minions, who are united in their infamous rebellion. We, as believers in Jesus, must work together with unity and self-sacrifice to serve God.

Let us be inspired to go about our daily lives with the intention of serving God in every moment, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem. Let us be quick to perceive opportunities to bless others, and let us be tactful and energetic in our efforts. Let us learn from our enemies and sharpen our tools. And let us work together with unity and self-sacrifice to serve God and fight against the Philistines of evil.

Dear God, we thank you for the opportunity to serve you in this great battle against evil. We ask that you help us to sharpen our tools and use every talent and opportunity to your glory. Help us to be quick to perceive opportunities to bless others, and give us the energy and perseverance to serve you with unity and self-sacrifice. We pray that you would protect us as we fight against the Philistines of evil, and that you would help us to be effective in your service. Amen.

The Preciousness of the Lord Jesus

Welcome to All Nations Community Church's devotional blog. Today, we're going to explore the topic of the preciousness of the Lord Jesus. In 1 Peter 2:6, Peter tells us that Jesus is precious, but he couldn't tell us how precious He is. No one could ever compute the value of God's unspeakable gift. It's impossible to convey the preciousness of the Lord Jesus to His people nor to explain how essential He is to their satisfaction and happiness. But we're going to try.

“For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.””

The Lord Jesus is the source of all joy, all hope, and all satisfaction. Without Him, we find ourselves in a howling wilderness. Without Him, even in the brightest daylight, the world appears dark. But in Him, we find the light that shines brighter than any darkness.

Think about it: what would you do in the world without Him when you wake up and look ahead to the day's battle? What would you do at night when you come home jaded and weary if there were no door of fellowship between you and Christ? Thankfully, Jesus never forsakes His own. He is always with us, guiding us, comforting us, and encouraging us.

Have you ever experienced a time of abundance when you felt a great emptiness because your faith was shaken? It is like the sun shining on a dark world, but the light of Christ is absent, leaving everything in darkness. Or it is like being in the night without the bright and morning star, which is Christ, and no other star can provide any light. This world is a barren wilderness without our Lord. If He hides Himself from us, the flowers of our garden wither, our pleasant fruits decay, the birds stop singing, and our hopes are shattered by a tempest.

But in Him, we find peace that transcends all understanding. We find joy that is unspeakable and full of glory. We find hope that never fades away. We find a love that is unconditional and unchanging.

Just imagine facing the struggles of the day without Him, or coming home jaded and weary at night without any door of fellowship between you and Christ. Thankfully, Jesus never forsakes His own. Let the thought of what life would be without Him enhance His preciousness.

The Lord Jesus is the cornerstone of our faith, the source of our joy, and the centre of our lives. In Him, we find everything we need for our satisfaction and happiness. As we go through this week, let's remember to keep our eyes fixed on Him, to lean on Him for strength, and to trust in Him for our every need.

Mothers, both biological and spiritual, embody God's love and strength in their daily lives, nurturing, guiding, and praying for us. Today, we draw inspiration from the Scriptures to celebrate and honour the unfailing strength of a mother's faith.

A Mother's Love Reflects God's Unconditional Love

As the Scripture in Isaiah 66:13 reminds us, a mother's love reflects God's unconditional love. A mother's love is a reflection of God's own love for us, which is unchanging, unwavering, and unconditional. It is a love that is always there, no matter what, and a love that never fails. A mother's love is a reminder of God's presence in our lives, and it is a source of comfort and strength in times of need.

The Faith of a Canaanite Mother (Matthew 15:21-28)

The story of the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:21-28 exemplifies a mother's persistent faith. This woman was initially dismissed by Jesus, but her unwavering belief in Jesus' power to heal her daughter compelled Jesus to commend her faith, leading to her daughter's miraculous healing. This story encourages mothers in our community to persist in faith, prayer, and belief in the power of Jesus Christ, knowing that He hears and responds to their cries.

Mothers, like the Canaanite woman, can have faith that moves mountains. They can pray with confidence, knowing that God hears their prayers and will answer them according to His will. They can believe in the power of Jesus Christ to heal and restore, even when all hope seems lost. As a church, we celebrate and honour the faith of mothers in our community, knowing that their faith is a testament to the unfailing love and strength of God.

The Legacy of a Faithful Mother (2 Timothy 1:5)

Paul’s letter to Timothy highlights the spiritual legacy passed down by Timothy's grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice. This legacy of faith is a testament to the influential role of mothers and grandmothers in fostering the faith of the next generation. As a church, we acknowledge and celebrate the spiritual heritage that mothers in our community contribute to, nurturing faith that is sincere and vibrant.

Mothers have the power to shape the faith of the next generation. Their example of faith, prayer, and devotion can inspire their children to follow in their footsteps and to seek after God with all their hearts. They can pass down a legacy of faith that will endure for generations to come. As a church, we recognise and honour the important role that mothers play in raising up a generation of believers who will carry the torch of faith into the future.

A Mother’s Prayer and Sacrifice (1 Samuel 1:27-28)

Hannah's story of prayerful longing and sacrifice in 1 Samuel 1:27-28 is a powerful example of a mother's faith and dedication. Her vow to God and her fulfilment of it by dedicating Samuel to the Lord's service is an inspiring testament to the profound impact of a mother's prayers and the sacrifices they make for the spiritual welfare of their children.

Mothers make sacrifices every day for the sake of their children. They sacrifice their time, their energy, and their resources to ensure that their children are cared for and provided for. They pray for their children unceasingly, entrusting them to the care of God. They give of themselves so that their children may thrive and grow. As a church, we honor the sacrifices that mothers make and we pray that God will bless them abundantly for their selflessness and devotion.

This Mother's Day, we want to celebrate and honour the mothers among us. We also want to remember to support, encourage, and pray for them. May we recognise the incredible faith, love, and strength they exhibit and strive to uphold them in their calling. Let us also extend our love and gratitude to those who have played a maternal role in our lives, acknowledging the diverse ways in which motherly love and care manifest in our community.

As we reflect on these biblical examples, we are reminded of the vital role mothers play in our lives and in the body of Christ. Their faith, prayers, and love are foundational to our individual and collective spiritual growth. Let us cherish, honour, and support them not only today but every day.

The North and South Winds of Life

All Nations Community Church (ANCC), we are living in a time of great uncertainty, where the winds of change are blowing all around us. We are facing challenges that we never imagined we would face, and it can be easy to become overwhelmed by the storms of life. But in the midst of it all, we have a hope that sustains us - the hope of Christ.

In the Song of Solomon, the spouse cries out to the North and South winds, asking them to blow upon her garden and let its spices flow. This verse has a deeper meaning that can encourage us in our walk of faith. In this devotional, we will explore the significance of the North and South winds in our lives and how we can embrace both trials and comforts to grow in faith and glorify God.

“Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread everywhere. Let my beloved come into his garden and taste its choice fruits.”

The North Wind is often associated with winter, cold, and hardship. It represents the trials and challenges that we face in life. These can come in various forms, such as sickness, loss, financial struggles, and relationship issues. The North Wind can be harsh and bitter, and it can feel like it will never end.

However, the North Wind can also be a means of our sanctification. As the spouse in Song of Solomon humbly submits herself to the reproofs of her Beloved, we too can learn from our trials and grow in our faith. We should not shy away from the North Wind of trouble if it means becoming more like Christ. As long as we can say that the Lord was in the wind, we can trust that He is using our trials for our good and His glory.

The South Wind, on the other hand, is associated with warmth, comfort, and refreshment. It represents the joys and blessings that we experience in life. These can come in various forms, such as peace, healing, financial abundance, and strong relationships. The South Wind can be gentle and soothing, and it can bring a sense of well-being and contentment.

The spouse in Song of Solomon desires the warm South Wind of comfort too, the smiles of divine love, and the joy of the Redeemer's presence. These are often mightily effectual to arouse our sluggish life. We should not shy away from the South Wind of comfort either. We can delight in the blessings that God has given us and use them to bless others. We should enjoy the warm sunshine on our faces and the beauty of nature around us, knowing that these are gifts from our loving Heavenly Father.

The wisdom of God overrules diverse and opposite causes to produce the one desired result and makes both affliction and consolation produce the grateful aroma of faith, love, patience, hope, resignation, joy, and the other fair flowers of the garden. We must remember that graces unexercised are like sweet perfumes trapped in the bottle. We must use the trials and blessings that God has given us to grow in our faith and bring glory to His name.

ANCC, as we face the North and South winds of life, let us remember that we have a hope that sustains us through every circumstance. Let us embrace the trials and comforts that come our way, knowing that God is using them for our good and His glory. Let us use the graces that God has given us to bless others and bring glory to His name. And let us trust that in all things, God is working for our good and His glory.
