2 When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, O Lord, how I have always been faithful to you and have served you single-mindedly, always doing what pleases you.” Then he broke down and wept bitterly.
4 But before Isaiah had left the middle courtyard, this message came to him from the Lord: 5 “Go back to Hezekiah, the leader of my people. Tell him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you, and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the Lord. 6 I will add fifteen years to your life, and I will rescue you and this city from the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my own honor and for the sake of my servant David.’”
7 Then Isaiah said, “Make an ointment from figs.” So Hezekiah’s servants spread the ointment over the boil, and Hezekiah recovered!
8 Meanwhile, Hezekiah had said to Isaiah, “What sign will the Lord give to prove that he will heal me and that I will go to the Temple of the Lord three days from now?”
9 Isaiah replied, “This is the sign from the Lord to prove that he will do as he promised. Would you like the shadow on the sundial to go forward ten steps or backward ten steps?”
10 “The shadow always moves forward,” Hezekiah replied, “so that would be easy. Make it go ten steps backward instead.” 11 So Isaiah the prophet asked the Lord to do this, and he caused the shadow to move ten steps backward on the sundial of Ahaz!

Imagine a young Mary, an ordinary girl in Nazareth, approached by an angel with a message that would forever alter the course of her life and the history of the world. "Don't be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God!" These words were not just a greeting; they were a declaration of hope and divine selection.
When we think of favour, many of us imagine immediate blessings and smooth paths. However, Mary's favour led her through paths of misunderstanding, scrutiny, and immense responsibility. Favour in the kingdom of God often comes wrapped in challenges that foster growth and deepen our faith. It plants a seed of hope that, though it starts small, has the potential to grow into something monumental.
To cultivate hope, we must first recognise its presence. Hope enters quietly, often in times of prayer, reflection, or even through words of encouragement from others. By declaring "there is the sound of a heavy rain," Elijah teaches us the first lesson of faith: Faith speaks before it sees. Finally, the skies darkened, and rain poured over the land. This rain did more than just water the ground; it signified a shift in seasons, both literally and spiritually. For us, this signifies that Faith realises God's promises. It shows that what God declares, He fulfils. Your season of rain will come. It will bring refreshment, renewal, and growth.

The Lord Jesus is the source of all joy, all hope, and all satisfaction. Without Him, we find ourselves in a howling wilderness. Without Him, even in the brightest daylight, the world appears dark. But in Him, we find the light that shines brighter than any darkness.
Think about it: what would you do in the world without Him when you wake up and look ahead to the day's battle? What would you do at night when you come home jaded and weary if there were no door of fellowship between you and Christ? Thankfully, Jesus never forsakes His own. He is always with us, guiding us, comforting us, and encouraging us.
Have you ever experienced a time of abundance when you felt a great emptiness because your faith was shaken? It is like the sun shining on a dark world, but the light of Christ is absent, leaving everything in darkness. This Mother's Day, we want to celebrate and honour the mothers among us. We also want to remember to support, encourage, and pray for them. May we recognise the incredible faith, love, and strength they exhibit and strive to uphold them in their calling. Let us also extend our love and gratitude to those who have played a maternal role in our lives, acknowledging the diverse ways in which motherly love and care manifest in our community.
