Today, we will explore the essence of dreaming big and the role of visions in our spiritual and personal growth. The story of Joseph in Genesis 37 will serve as our backdrop, providing us with timeless lessons on faith, resilience, and divine destiny.

Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”
— Genesis 37:9 (NIV)

This dream, while magnificent, was not met with joy but with jealousy and disbelief. Yet, it was a clear foreshadowing of Joseph's future role and the incredible plans God had in store for him.

Dreams are a language through which God often communicates deeper truths about His plans for us. They serve as beacons, guiding us through the trials and tribulations of life. In a world where practicality often trumps passion, daring to dream is an act of spiritual defiance against the mundane, urging us to reach for the divine.

A God-given dream isn’t just a fleeting thought or a night-time fantasy. It is a vision imbued with purpose and power. It transcends personal ambition, aligning us with something greater than ourselves. Joseph’s dreams were not merely about personal success; they were about the salvation and sustenance of an entire nation.

Like Joseph, you may find that your dreams are met with scepticism or ridicule. It's a common reaction, especially when your dreams seem implausible or when they challenge the status quo. How do you hold on to your vision, then?

  1. Stay rooted in faith: Faith is the foundation upon which dreams are realised. It is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).

  2. Seek divine affirmation: Constantly seek God's face through prayer and scripture to ensure that your dreams align with His will.

  3. Gather supportive community: Surround yourself with believers who encourage and strengthen your faith. All Nations Community Church is a community where dreams are nurtured and faith is fortified.

Realising your dreams is a journey that involves patience and perseverance. Joseph’s path to his dream’s fulfilment was fraught with hardship, yet each challenge served a purpose in God’s grand design. The pit, the slavery, and the prison were all part of the process that prepared Joseph for his ultimate role.

Practical Steps to Pursue Your Dreams

  1. Document your dreams: Write them down clearly and revisit them often. They will serve as reminders and motivators.

  2. Plan with prayer: Every dream should have a plan, and every plan should be bathed in prayer. Ask God for wisdom and guidance at each step.

  3. Act on your faith: Faith without works is dead (James 2:26). Start taking small, practical steps towards your dream.

At All Nations Community Church, we believe in empowering each individual to discover and pursue their God-given dreams.

Dreaming with God is an adventure of faith. It’s an invitation to step out of the ordinary and into the extraordinary. Joseph’s life teaches us that no dream is too big when God is in it. His dreams were not just for him but were part of a larger story of redemption and grace.

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for the dreams You place in our hearts. May we pursue them with courage, backed by Your divine power. Help us to remain steadfast when challenges arise, and humble in our successes. May our lives reflect Your glory as we step into the destinies You have ordained for us. Amen.

Remember, your dreams have the power to inspire, to heal, and to transform – not just your life but the lives of those around you. Dare to dream, and watch as God turns the impossible into the possible.
