Praying with Power

Rasol Manouchehri Ardakani - 19 September 2025

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
— James 5:16 (NIV)

God hears every prayer we pray, whether whispered or shouted, whether long or short. But James 5:16 reminds us that there is a kind of prayer that is powerful and effective prayer, offered by someone who is walking closely with God and praying in alignment with His will.

Praying with power is not about using the right “spiritual” words. It is about praying with faith, grounded in God’s Word. When we pray according to His promises, we can have confidence that He will move in His way and His timing.

I have seen God answer prayers in ways that left me in awe. Sometimes the answer came quickly; other times it came after months or years of persistence. But in every case, praying with faith kept my hope alive.

One way to pray with power is to pray Scripture. If you are anxious, pray Philippians 4:6–7. If you need strength, pray Isaiah 40:31. If you are praying for someone’s salvation, pray Acts 16:31. God’s Word is alive, and when we pray it back to Him, it builds our faith.

Praying with power also means praying in the name of Jesus, recognising that our authority in prayer comes from Him. It is His victory on the cross that makes it possible for us to approach God boldly.

So today, pray with faith. Pray with boldness. Pray knowing that the same God who parted the Red Sea, healed the sick, and raised the dead is the One who hears you now.

Prayer of the Day:
Lord, thank You that I can come to You in prayer with confidence. Teach me to pray with faith and according to Your Word, trusting You to do what only You can do. Amen.
