Every day presents a new opportunity to step closer to our dreams and aspirations. But often, we hesitate at the threshold of action, weighed down by doubts and fears. Today, let us explore the profound truth hidden within the pages of the Gospel of Matthew.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
— Matthew 7:7 (NIV)

The Promise of Asking

Imagine standing before a door, behind which lies all the blessings and answers you’ve ever yearned for. The handle is within your reach, yet what holds us back is often our reluctance to simply reach out and turn it. This verse isn't merely a suggestion; it's an invitation, a divine decree from the lips of Jesus Himself.

In our journey through life, we encounter countless needs and desires. These can range from the desire for a new job, healing from past hurts, to deeper spiritual enlightenment. By asking, we activate a spiritual law that sets the wheels of Heaven in motion. It is God’s pleasure to respond to His children’s requests, not out of obligation, but from a place of overflowing love.

Our Heavenly Father is not a distant deity, looking down upon us with indifference. He is close, caring deeply about our smallest worries and grandest dreams alike. When we approach Him with our needs, it is like a child running to their parent for comfort or help—He is always ready to listen.

Seeking goes beyond asking. It involves a journey, an active pursuit of one’s goals. To seek implies effort, engagement, and a readiness to explore uncharted territories.

To seek is to pray without ceasing, to knock on the door of opportunity until your knuckles are raw. Persistence in prayer shows our commitment and desire. It is not the repetition of empty words, but the heartfelt cry of those who will not give up until they touch Heaven.

Faith is the golden key that unlocks the door. Without faith, our asking is empty, and our seeking is aimless. Faith aligns our human desires with divine will, moulding our requests into vessels fit for Heaven’s blessings.

Knocking is the final step in this divine trilogy of pursuit. It signifies not only desire but also determination. When you knock, you announce your presence and readiness to receive what lies beyond the threshold.

It takes courage to knock, especially when the door has remained closed for a long time. But remember, each knock echoes in the spiritual realm, drawing attention to your faith and perseverance.

While we are called to knock, the opening of the door remains in God’s hands. His timing is perfect, orchestrating our lives with precision and care. Trusting in His timing can sometimes be the hardest part, but it is also the most rewarding.

At All Nations Community Church, we witness the power of this divine principle week after week. Lives transformed, hopes fulfilled, and faith strengthened—each story a testament to the truth of God’s word.

So, what is it that you desire today? What hope or dream are you holding in your heart? Remember, the promise of Matthew 7:7 is as real and potent today as it ever was. The doors you face are not barriers, but gateways to God’s endless grace.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before you with open hearts and uplifted hands. Thank you for the promise that when we ask, we receive; when we seek, we find; and when we knock, the door is opened. Grant us the courage to ask boldly, seek earnestly, and knock persistently. We trust in Your perfect timing and unfailing love. Bless all who are reading this, and may they find the hope and strength they need at this moment. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
