DEVOTIONAL:

MAIN SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV) 8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. 9 Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

The wisdom found in Proverbs 31 isn't just about living a virtuous life; it’s a call to action, especially for those of us who have the means and platform to make a difference. In simple terms, it’s telling us not to just walk by and ignore when we see something wrong. Imagine seeing someone stuck in a pit; wouldn’t you extend your hand to help them out? That’s exactly what this Scripture is pleading us to do for those who don't have the ability to speak up for themselves.

We often encounter situations where we see unfairness, injustice, or someone struggling, and it's easy to think, "Someone else will take care of it," or "It's not my problem." However, that’s not what we are called to do as believers. We are called to be the light in the darkness, the hope in despair, and the voice for the voiceless.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, grant me the courage and strength to stand up and speak out for those who are disregarded, oppressed, and silenced. Let my words be more than just words, but actions filled with love and hope. May I be so filled with Your love that it overflows onto those around me, especially onto those who need it the most. Equip me to not just listen to Your Word, but also to be a doer of it. In Jesus' name, Amen.

ACTION STEP:

Today, let's take a moment to identify an issue of injustice or need that perhaps we have turned a blind eye to. Once you have identified that issue, take a step to educate yourself about it. Knowledge is power, and once we know better, we are called to do better. After you have educated yourself, take one tangible step to get involved. Let's be the change we wish to see, one step at a time.
