The verse for today
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
In this world, we are often bombarded with messages of perfection and success. Society tells us that we need to have it all together, to be strong and confident, and to never show any signs of weakness. But the truth is, we all have weaknesses. We all have areas in our lives where we struggle and feel inadequate. It's a part of being human.
That's where 2 Corinthians 12:9 comes in. This verse reminds us that God's grace is sufficient for us, even in our weakest moments. We don't have to try to do everything on our own, because God's power can shine through our weaknesses. This is a message of hope and encouragement for all of us.
So, what does it mean for God's grace to be sufficient for us? It means that His love, mercy, and power are enough to cover all of our weaknesses and shortcomings. It means that we don't have to try to earn His love or prove ourselves to Him. Instead, we can rest in the knowledge that we are already accepted and loved by Him.
But how do we allow God's grace to be sufficient in our lives? One way is by boasting about our weaknesses. That may sound counterintuitive, but hear me out. When we boast about our weaknesses, we are admitting them and allowing God's power to shine through. We are saying, "God, I can't do this on my own, but I trust that Your power will be revealed through me."
It's important to note that boasting about our weaknesses doesn't mean we should go around announcing our flaws to everyone. Instead, it means acknowledging them to God and allowing Him to work through us. When we do this, we open ourselves up to the power of the Holy Spirit and allow Him to work in and through us.
Another way to allow God's grace to be sufficient in our lives is by pressing on. When we encounter struggles and difficulties, it can be tempting to give up and throw in the towel. But God's grace gives us the strength to keep going. We don't have to face life's challenges on our own. Instead, we can trust that God is with us every step of the way, giving us the grace and strength we need to keep pressing on.
So, let's not be afraid of our weaknesses. Let's boast about them and trust that God's power will be revealed through us. Let's press on, knowing that God's grace is sufficient for us, no matter what we may face.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, thank you for Your grace. Thank you for loving us and accepting us just as we are. Help us to boast about our weaknesses and trust that Your power will be revealed through us. Give us the strength to keep pressing on and the courage to face life's challenges. We love you and trust in Your sufficiency. Amen.
May you be filled with His strength, His peace, and His joy today and always.
In Christ,
Pastor Ras
