Discovering Your True Identity

Good morning, ANCC Men of Honour! Welcome to another blessed day where we can seek God’s guidance and truth.

In Genesis 32, Jacob wrestled with God, which revealed a profound truth: we are not defined by the labels others give us. Throughout his life, Jacob was called a deceiver or a trickster, and this affected how he viewed himself and lived. However, in a transformative moment alone with God, Jacob learned that he was not merely the labels imposed on him; he was Israel, a prince with God.

This story powerfully reminds us that our true identity is not tied to past mistakes or the negative names people might call us. God sees beyond our past to what we can become in Him. He sees us as more than conquerors (Romans 8:37), chosen people and a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9).

Today, let’s ask God to reveal to us who we truly are. He knows us completely and loves us unconditionally. May we find our identity in Him and live as the men of honour, He calls us to be.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, thank You for this new day to discover more about You and the identity You have for us. Help us to see ourselves through Your eyes, as men of honour and purpose. Teach us to reject the negative voices and embrace the truth of Your Word. Guide us to live out the destiny You have set for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
