DEVOTIONAL:
MAIN SCRIPTURE: Luke 10:33-34 (NIV) 33 But a Samaritan, as he travelled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.
The Good Samaritan story isn't just a touching storyline; it's a real-life lesson in genuine compassion, which goes beyond temporary feelings. It's much more than that. True compassion drives you to act, to step out of your comfort zone, and to be the hands and feet of love in a world that desperately needs it.
The Samaritan didn't just pass by the injured man with a sigh of sympathy. He stopped, took care of his wounds, and even went the extra mile by taking him to an inn for extra care. His actions were intentional and sacrificial. That's the level of compassion we are called to follow.
Remember, feelings are temporary, but the impact of a compassionate act can last a lifetime. It's through these acts that we not only touch lives but also represent the love and mercy that Jesus continually shows us.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, thank You for being the ultimate example of compassion. You didn’t just feel pity; You actually took action. Even to the point of laying down Your life for me. Help me to be more like You every day, turning my feelings of compassion into tangible actions that bless others. In Your name, we pray. Amen.
