Defending Your Faith Without Throwing Punches Pastor Ras

DEVOTIONAL:

MAIN SCRIPTURE: Jude 1:3 (NIV) 3 Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people.

In today's culture, the Gospel message is often challenged, questioned, or even ridiculed. The Apostle Jude urges us to "defend the faith," to stand firm and defend the timeless truths of the Gospel. But how do we do this in a way that honours God?

First, let's remember that defending the Gospel isn't about proving we are right and someone else is wrong. It's about faithfully representing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. It's about standing up for the truths that have the power to set people free, heal the broken-hearted, and bring light into darkness.

When we engage in conversations that challenge our faith, it's crucial that our goal remains to be faithful messengers of the Gospel, rather than winners of debates. Our aim should be to lovingly present the truth, allowing it to do its own work in the hearts and minds of those who hear it. This is not our battle to win; it's God's truth to reveal.

So, as you find yourself in situations where you are called to defend your faith, take a deep breath, and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. By doing this, you create an opportunity for the Holy Spirit to touch hearts and change lives.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, equip me with the wisdom and courage to faithfully defend the Gospel. Give me the right words to say and guide my actions so that they glorify You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

ACTION STEP:

Today, take some time to study articles or videos that challenge the Christian faith. As you read or watch, pray for wisdom and discernment.
